Death Certificate of William Askew

On February 13, 2017, I received a copy of William Askew's death certificate from the Georgia Department of Public Health.  There is NO cause of death recorded on the death certificate!  How could such an incomplete certificate be filed with no issues?!

This leaves me with more questions than answers.  Also, when I consider that this was 1927, the South, and the Jim Crow era, I have horrible speculations spinning around in my head.

However, it's not a total loss.  His death certificate confirms that his occupation was a Farmer, and his parents were George Askew and Harriett Berry, and they were all born in Henry County, Georgia.  His widow, Lizzie Askew was the Informant.

There is a discrepancy in William Askew's age and year of birth.  According the census records from 1880 to 1920, he was born in May of 1867, making his age at his time of death about 59 years.  The death certificate has no date of birth recorded, but it appears Lizzie, as the Informant, reported his age as 64 years, making his year of birth 1863.  I have no way of confirming what is accurate or what is not.

The undertaker was a Charlie Johnson of McDonough,GA.  William Askew was buried in Johnson Cemetery on March 2, 1927.  I have still been unable to verify exactly where Johnson Cemetery is.
